Do Real Telecommute Jobs Exist? 

The answer to this is YES!

There are many forms of telecommuting jobs. Some people will telecommute at home part-time from their office job. Most will eventually end up working at home if they can show that their efforts will both benefit their employer and that they can get the job done well.

In most cases now days, telecommuting at home means working at home.

There are many ways to work from home. This can include working for a company directly from home or being self employed from home.

The words self employed sometimes frightens people. However, it does not always mean you have to run out and start a home business that will cost a lot of money.

You can be self employed by simply finding creative ways to get work at home from companies as a self contractor. This means that they do not take out taxes when they pay you. You would be responsible for the taxes at the end of the year. Of course you also would get to take off many tax deductions because you work at home from your home office. You would be surprised at the tax deductions that you can take within your home office.  Of course you will need to consult with your accountant to find out all the details regarding what can and cannot be used for deductions.

Some of the most popular telecommuting jobs revolve around either a word processing program such as MS Word, spreadsheet program such as Excel, or doing desk top publishing on a program such as MS Publisher.

Having knowledge and skills within these programs can allow you ways to get telecommuting jobs and /or create your own work at home jobs.

Example #1 - Many companies need people to enter customer information into a database for their records. A lot of databases can import the information from a spreadsheet file called Excel. Once the person working at home has entered in all of the information and checks it for accuracy the company can then import the data into their favorite database program.

Example #2 - Many college students do not have time to type their reports. Some will pay $5 to $10 a page or more to have a professional service type their report for them. Of course you need to have good grammar skills. You can make excellent money this way. In fact once the word gets around that you are doing this you may have to put people on a waiting list.

Example #3 - Medical Transcription - MTs listen to the digital dictation and then transcribe the reports into a program called MS Word. MTs can make an excellent income working from home. Of course you need to be well trained in the field before you can work at home as an MT. There are many online schools / courses that can teach you these skills in less than a year.  Some of the popular schools are: MTatHome, Career Step, and Andrews.
